Govnr is being designed with voting integrity and auditability as first-class concerns.

Voting Integrity

The initial design favours a tamper-evident append-only ledger rather than a premature custom blockchain. Civic and voting events can be canonicalised, hashed, chained, grouped into Merkle roots, and exported for independent verification.

This gives the platform a practical path toward public verification without taking on consensus, validator operation, or chain governance too early.

Privacy

Voting privacy is a core design question. Govnr must support verifiable outcomes without exposing unnecessary personal data or creating coercive proof-of-vote receipts.

The project will treat eligibility, identity, vote privacy, and public verification as connected parts of the same system.

AI Transparency

AI features should help people understand, draft, compare, and research civic material. They should be labelled, auditable where appropriate, and constrained so they do not silently alter civic records or make decisions on behalf of people.
